The estimated area of the structure is 57,685 square meters (620,920 sq ft). It was designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito in collaboration with Cecil Balmond at Arup AGU. It was contracted on 11 November 2009 with construction planned for 45 months. The venue had a partial opening on 23 November 2014. It has been more than seven decades since the Japanese relinquished control of Taiwan and while there you can still find quite a few well-preserved examples of Japanese architecture around the country, most of the buildings that remain are in a state of decay and are in desperate need of maintenance and renewal.The good news is that over the past few years the government has become active in showing an interest in preserving the history of what few buildings remain. All over the country projects have started to restore some of these historically significant buildings which will bring them back to life and help people understand some of Taiwan’s complicated history.National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts The art museum is a building with one basement and three floors above ground. It is a long building with east and west orientations. It covers an area of about 102,000 square meters (including the sculpture park in the park). It is currently the largest art museum in Asia [3]. A central air bridge extending from the park into the north and south of the museum is divided into east and west areas. The west area is for type A and B exhibition rooms, and the east area is for type C, D, E, and F exhibition rooms. The exhibition space includes A to F type exhibition rooms, art street, information transfer station, digital art ark - digital creative resource center, etc. In the use of exhibition space, the first and second floors are special exhibition areas, the third floor is a permanent exhibition of Taiwanese art collections, and the F-type exhibition room is mainly for donation exhibitions. The "Art Street" space spanning the east and west, the bamboo forest inner hall and the plaza in the concave garden can be changed in multiple combinations, providing a cross-field performance venue [3]. There are special exhibition rooms, 360-degree circle halls, picture book halls, children's game rooms, digital art ark, video platform, video art hall, library and reference center, teacher resource room, classical rose garden, spring water hall, art museum boutiques and other spaces .Feng Chia Night Market The Feng Chia Night Market (逢甲夜市) was established in 1963 and is Taichung’s largest and most popular night market; For many it is probably even Taiwan’s most favorite market that was once established along Wen-hua road , then expanded to Fengjia road (逢甲路), Fushin road(福星路), Xian street(西安街) etc.The area provides an assortment of shops to browse through which have Food/drink stands, clothing stores, restaurants, games to play and most notably, lots of snacks to please any palate. Fengjia Night Market has tied with Keelung’s Miaokou Night Market for first place , in terms of taste in a competition judged by a committee organized by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan.
